BODY ROUTINE: HOW TO SOLVE DRY SKIN ISSUES
Are your legs flaking? Are your lips tingling? Do your hands feel tight? The skin of your body is probably dry, or even super dry. Whether it is occasional dryness or is the nature of your skin, we have good news: we have solutions to give your skin comfort and balance again!
Why is my body skin so dry?
Dry skin is characterized by an intercellular lipidic cement poor in lipids, and a hydrolipidic film thinner than for normal skins. This lipidic mix present at the surface of our skin has 2 missions: Protect the epidermis from external aggressions and retain water. When our skin loses its humidity, it gets dry and cannot defend itself properly anymore.
This phenomenon has several explanations. First, let’s remember that each skin is unique and depends on the genetic patrimony. Hence a hydration rate and sebum production that will differ from one person to another. Nevertheless, some agents will worsen the dryness condition:
- Using aggressive soaps
- Showering too often
- Water temperature of the shower or the bath is too high
- Season Transitions
- Tobacco use
How to spot dry skin?
First signs of cutaneous dryness often go unnoticed. If one does not pay close attention, the skin can change conditions very quickly. Dry skin symptoms are easy to notice: pulling sensation, lack of comfort, sometimes itchiness. A thirsty skin tightens, the appearance is scaly, and texture is lightly granular and rough. In case of very dry skin, flaking and cracking may appear.
Luckily, saying goodbye to “crocodile skin” is now possible!
How can I take care of my dry skin?
CLEANSING SHOULD ALWAYS RESPECT THE HYDROLIPIDIC FLIM
Cutaneous dryness being caused by the degradation of the hydrolipidic film, dry skin should always be cleansed in a very gentle way to avoid worsening the condition. When too aggressive, soaps tend to eliminate lipids that are naturally present at the surface of our skin. It is all about finding a formulation that cleanse while also helping the skin to retain humidity, instead of increasing dryness. The Baume de Douche Réconfortant 2-in-1 is both cleansing and nourishing, its micellar technology working very gently on the skin. Its pearly pink creamy texture leaves the skin beautifully soft, and delicately perfumed. Dry skins discover comfort and smoothness again. They are nourished and protected from the drying process
HYDRATION SHOULD BE ADAPTED TO DRY SKIN
Using a product specifically targeting dry skins will reinforce the protective barrier of the epidermis. By reinforcing the hydrolipidic film, skin hydration is overall better regulated as all layers of the skin will increase their water retention.
When is the best time to hydrate a dry skin? Right after cleansing, when the skin is clean and still slightly humid. The creamy texture of the Lait Hydratant 24 H provides long lasting hydration thanks to its extracts of chestnut and honey. Skin is smooth and comfortable again. And we love its super convenient pump bottle that you can use easily right after your bath or shower!
PSST, WE HAVE MORE TIPS!

- After the shower, gently pat dry your skin, don’t rub your towel too harshly
- Hydrate from inside, drink at least 6 cups of water a day in-between meals
- Wear clothing made with natural fiber (cotton, silk, linen)
Use a gentle scrub once or twice a week to get rid of dry skin
Pamper your lips and hands against dry
FOCUS ON HANDS AND LIPS SENSITIVITY
Some parts of our body are definitively more prone to dryness than others. Our lips and the back of our hands have some things in common: the skin is especially thin and is almost totally lacking sebaceous glands. Therefore, they are less protected from external aggressions.
In addition, our hands are always busy. They are rarely covered with any fabric and are exposed to all the agents of destruction of the cutaneous barrier, like temperature changes, abrasive products, pollution, or UV rays. The use of disinfecting gels and the frequent washing increase greatly the risk of dryness.

By now, you should know that to protect our hands and lips from dryness, we need to HY-DRATE them!!
